Sell Arabica green coffee beans
[MT]
Why Kenyan Coffee?
Kenya has very high quality coffee because of the process used in farming, picking and purifying. Use of chemicals is rare, due to excellent agricultural methods like mulching, pruning, mowing etc. Coffee is hand picked which means they pick only the ripe beans. They take their coffee called the parchment coffee to government licensed millers who remove the outer husks and grade their coffee according to density, shape and liquor
We at skyblue will always go for the best coffee from the Millers whose hulling methods are ascertained to be above board.
Kenya is the East African powerhouse of the coffee world. Both in the cup, and the way the trade is run, everything is topnotch. The best Kenya coffees are not sold simply as generic AA or AB. They are specific auction lots sold to the highest bidder, and heated competition drives the prices up. Research and development is unparalleled. Quality control is meticulous, and many thousands of small farmers are highly educated in their agricultural practice --and rewarded -- for top level coffee.
In general, this is a bright coffee that lights up the palate from front to back. It is not for people who do not like acidity in coffee (acidity being the prized bright notes in the cup due to an interrelated set of chlorogenic acids). A great Kenya is complex, and has interesting fruit (berry, citrus) flavors, sometimes alternating with spice. Some are clean and bright, others have cherished winey flavors.
The "AA" in Kenya AA denotes the grade of this fine Kenyan coffee. The main growing areas stretch south from the slopes of Mt. Kenya almost to the capital of Nairobi. Kenya AA coffee assures a sharp acidity, a stoic solid body and smooth winey penetrating flavor.
Coffee farming and picking
We are keen on the source of our coffee. We ensure that we are aware of the farming methods used so as to ascertain that they measure to the farming standards recommended by the Coffee Research foundation of Kenya.
Coffee picking in Kenya is hand-picked. This is done with a precision that ensures only the ripe cherry is picked and therefore providing the right quality of bean
Coffee processing
We are also keen to ensure that we only source our coffee from coffee millers whose coffee hulling (removing husks) and grading is done to the required standard.
Coffee warehousing
Our warehousing facilities are to current standards, ensuring that our beans are stored well and they can't loose their quality as a result of poor storage. The Warehouses are licensed and inspected by the national regulatory body.
Green beans samples
We send the customers a catalogue of the coffee on offer upon request, detailing the number of bags, the weight, its origin and the quality. If they require the samples, we send a week before the day of auction.
Normally after we send our clients the catalogue, we ask them to select the lots whose samples they require. We ask the first time clients to pay for the first samples they request for, which are at a rate of USD 75 per Kg. Each Kilogram carries 5 lots each of 200gms. After the first order, 1Kg sample(i.e. 5 lots) are sent free of charge. In the subsequent orders, 2Kgs samples are free of charge.
Orders
We listen to each customer's order and respond accordingly. When a customer makes an order, we sign a contract with them which entrenches the interests of both parties. It is on the basis of this contract that our Banker comes in.
Prices
We do make our quotations based on the FOB price at the port of Mombasa or the CIF price at the destination port depending on our customers' preference. Prices vary from time to time depending on the market but indicative prices are sent upon request.
